There is a relaxed atmosphere on board aided by the elegant interiors and unimpeded ocean views from the lounges’ floor-to-ceiling windows. There are plenty of lounges and bars to enjoy a pre-dinner or pre-theatre drink including the swish Beverly Hills Bar and traditional English-style Lord Nelson Pub and the Broadway Theatre plays host to jaw-dropping entertainment 6 nights a week. She underwent a significant lengthening in November 2015 under MSC's Renaissance Program, increasing her gross tonnage to 65,591 and her maximum passenger capacity to 2,648. She operates Mediterranean itineraries from Piraeus.

After her 2003 debut on Mediterranean routes, MSC Lirica expanded to Asian operations from March 2016 visiting China, Japan, and Korea. In 2018-2019 she operated winter cruises in the United Arab Emirates. Following the pandemic and fire repairs, she resumed commercial service in April 2022 with 7-night Eastern Mediterranean cruises based at Piraeus, Greece.
What is the history of MSC Lirica?
MSC Lirica launched in August 2002 and was christened on 1 March 2003, entering service as MSC Cruises' first purpose-built newbuild. She is the first of four Lirica-class ships, with MSC Opera as her identical sister. In November 2015 she was jumboised—lengthened from 251.25 m to 274.9 m—increasing capacity and adding new amenities. On 12 March 2021, while laid up at Corfu during the COVID-19 pandemic, a fire broke out in an empty fiberglass lifeboat amidships, causing hull damage but no interior damage and no injuries. The affected section was subsequently repaired and she returned to service in April 2022.
