Africa cruises

Choose the part of Africa before choosing a cruise month. A Cape Town coastal journey, an Indian Ocean itinerary and an inland river trip have different purposes and different seasonal conditions. The continent-wide comparison can help you find routes to investigate, but it cannot turn those routes into equivalent holidays. Start by deciding whether your priority is the coast, a longer passage or time along a river.

Read the sequence of stops and the embarkation arrangements together. A voyage that visits the Cape can also spend substantial time elsewhere; a river itinerary needs its own assessment of where the boat travels and how you reach it. Check whether transfers and any land stays are part of the booking, and distinguish time aboard from days assigned to travel before or after the sailing.

When climate figures are shown, Cape Town is the local reference, not a forecast for Africa. Use that reference only for the relevant location. Compare individual routes for port time, sea days and cabin arrangements, then check the conditions for the places and dates you have selected. A lower combined monthly fare does not establish better weather or wildlife viewing.
