Day 4 Aug 26, 2026 Kodiak, Alaska 11:00 – 18:00 7.0 hrs ashore The domain of grizzlies, brown and black bears, Kodiak Island is a raw, wild, and utterly authentic Alaskan wilderness. The Emerald Isle is the USA's second-largest island, and with a wilderness stretching out over 3,670 square miles, it's a thrilling voyage into the Alaskan unknown. The weather may get a little cloudy at times, but the locals actively welcome a covering of cloud – perhaps partly because the clouds and fog are said to have deterred Japanese attacks during World War II's hostilities. Day 5 Aug 27, 2026 Anchorage 10:00 – 20:00 10.0 hrs ashore From ice-blue glaciers to beluga whales and the famous bore tide, a single cruise to Anchorage, Alaska will considerably shorten any nature-lover’s bucket list. Nestled between mountains and the Cook Inlet terminus, near many national and state parks, this hospitable haven is one of the best places to see Alaska wildlife. A city moose roaming the streets (there are about 1,500) is a regular sight and views of whales, puffins, otters, and Dall porpoises going about their days is just a short excursion away. Less than 25 miles east of the Columbia Glacier, Valdez is the most northerly ice-free port in the Western Hemisphere and the southern terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. The town and port were named by the Spanish explorer Don Salvador Fidalgo in 1790. Valdez experienced a boom in 1897-98 when gold-seekers arrived looking for what was being advertised in the lower 48 states as the “All-American Route" to Alaska's interior and the Klondike gold fields.
