Most of the city’s population seems to frequent the Uerige – the archetypical Düsseldorf brewery – even though the name of the establishment comes from a local word for ‘grumpy’. Day 2 Dec 28, 2026 Amsterdam Arrives 09:00 Few can resist the grand beauty of Amsterdam’s famous canals, which thread through this place of evocative beauty and thrilling contrast. After devastating damage during World War II, Rotterdam has grown into a vibrant, forceful city dotted with first division cultural attractions. Your MSC cruise of Northern Europe will give you the opportunity to see that the immense land reclamation work hasn’t obliterated its earthy character though: its tough grittiness is part of its appeal, as are its boisterous bars and clubs. Amongst the most interesting attractions to enjoy during your vacation in Holland, is Rotterdam’s Kunsthal, the museum of contemporary art, and the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, which has an outstanding art collection including representative works from almost all the most important Dutch painters: both are in the city’s designated culture zone, the Museumpark. Other interesting sites to visit on an MSC excursion are the Oude Haven, the city’s oldest harbour, ravaged during World War II but sympathetically redeveloped, and Delfs haven, an antique harbour that managed to survive the bombs pretty much intact. Our first own new building, the VIVA ONE invites with 88 cabins up to 176 passengers on feel-good moments on board. On the diamond deck there are four luxurious suites, which with 24 m² size and a balcony (approx. 2 m²) invite you to enjoy the beautiful view. On the Diamond Deck, as well as on the Ruby Deck, there are 19 m² Junior Suites, which have a French balcony. The main part of the cabins is made up by 2-bed cabins with 16 m² size. These have French balconies on the Diamond and Ruby decks and non-opening windows on the Emerald deck. All cabins are perfectly equipped with flat-screen TV, included mini-bar, Nespresso® machine, Beauty products from RITUALS®, hairdryer, safe, air conditioning, shower and toilet. From a technical and sustainable perspective, the VIVA ONE impresses with some special features and innovations. A total of 68 solar cells, distributed on both sides of the sun deck, support the on-board power system. The energy generated is also used primarily for the ship's bow thruster and for high power usage. In general, a lot of emphasis was placed on low energy consumption for lighting, pumps, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and galley and laundry equipment during the design process. The water treatment system is also state-of-the-art. Guests can refill their reusable VIVA drinking bottles at any time at two water stations in the lobby and at the bar, while VIVA glass carafes are available in the restaurant. To reduce fuel consumption, the ship features an efficient hull form, powertrain and fuel-saving autopilot to simplify navigation.
