A Bahamas cruise should be compared by its actual island calls and time ashore. Nassau and a private-island stop are different itinerary choices, and a short voyage can devote a substantial part of its schedule to travel between them. Start with the places you want to visit, then check the hours assigned to each call rather than choosing by cruise length alone.

Read the embarkation and arrival arrangements alongside the route. Decide whether you want extra time before boarding, and confirm what the cabin fare includes once you are on the ship. If one island is the main reason for the trip, check the operator's itinerary-change terms and consider how you would feel about an alternative stop. A destination label does not guarantee a particular beach day or time in port.

When climate figures are shown, Nassau is the local reference. Winter cold fronts and the Atlantic hurricane season are reasons to check the dates and conditions, not explanations for every fare movement. The monthly comparison, when available, contains dated recorded listings. It does not supply a live Bahamas median, establish present availability or promise swimming weather on an individual sailing.

  • Counts cover active listings with a positive trip length whose itinerary locations passed independent source checks under the definitions above. A voyage may have more than one supplier listing.
  • Geographic references include GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and Wikidata. CruiseCaptain checks itinerary records against these references, applies the destination definitions and calculates the comparisons.
  • The monthly median uses each priced listing’s lowest usable corroborated USD cabin fare, divided by its trip length. A lower monthly median does not mean the same cruise costs less.
  • These counts cover the full comparison, even when the chart shows a smaller sample. They are not sample counts for any one cabin category.
  • The dates describe departure coverage, not when each fare was last observed. Fare observation times and booking conditions are not included in this monthly snapshot.
  • Check the individual sailing’s cabin, total fare and booking conditions before comparing offers. Weather guidance is a separate editorial source.

Best time to cruise Bahamas

Compare recorded monthly fares and seasonal conditions.

Among well-served months in this comparison, November has the lowest median listed fare at $101 per person per night and July the highest at $148. Adjacent months with limited choice are shown separately and may have lower fares. These are different future departures, not a price history for the same cruise. One subtropical honesty: Nassau sits at 25°N, and a winter cold front can cost you a pool day.

Real fares — sampled departures, by cabin

Each dot represents a sampled listed fare for one sailing and cabin category. The table’s monthly medians use the full eligible snapshot, not only the dots shown. These are different future departures, not repeated prices for an identical cruise.

Fare sample and methodology

Departure window: 2026-10-28 to before 2028-04-28.

The 18-month comparison contains 581 active sailing listings with a positive trip length; 577 have a listed cabin fare and 4 have none. The seasonal comparison uses 581 sailing listings in well-served months and their adjacent shoulder months; 0 sailing listings fall outside that seasonal selection. Counts represent supplier sailing listings, not necessarily distinct voyages. Current verified itinerary links are checked separately.

Lowest and highest labels compare well-served (core) months only. Adjacent months with limited choice can have lower medians. The score weights listed price 35%, reference weather 30%, editorial seasonal experience 25% and fewer sailing listings 10%. Listing counts do not measure passenger occupancy or crowds; this score is a comparison aid, not a forecast. Equal inputs receive equal scores.

For each sailing listing, we divide its lowest usable corroborated USD cabin fare by trip length, then take the median within each calendar month across departure years. Cabin medians use only listings priced in that category: inside, oceanview, balcony or suite. Missing fares are excluded from medians, never treated as free cruises. The dots are a bounded sample; chart lines smooth that sample by cabin over nearby departure dates, with monthly medians as a fallback.

Prices are displayed in US dollars per person. Occupancy, taxes, fees and inclusions follow the source listing and are not independently standardized in this comparison. Check the sailing and supplier before booking. The calculation date is not the time every supplier last refreshed its fare; this aggregate does not include individual quote timestamps.

Raw fares come from third-party feeds. CruiseCaptain’s contribution is tracking, normalization and analysis. These recorded-fare comparisons are descriptive: differences in lines, ships, cabins and routes can explain monthly gaps. They do not establish when to book or predict a future price.

The honest answers

The worst month

September, if your plans can't bend. The Bahamas sit squarely in the storm track: Dorian stalled over Grand Bahama in September 2019. A storm rarely intersects your exact week, but a threatened Nassau call becomes a sea day or a different port. October is the same trade at slightly better odds; June is merely the wettest.

Junkanoo at the holidays

The Bahamas' signature spectacle isn't seasonal wildlife. It's Junkanoo, Nassau's costumed street parade of goatskin drums, cowbells, and brass, held in the early hours of Boxing Day and again on New Year's Day.

Bahamas cruise timing — questions answered

What's the worst month to take a cruise to the Bahamas?

September is near the Atlantic hurricane-season peak. If your plans cannot accommodate a changed itinerary, consider that risk alongside heat, rain and your available travel dates. Use the monthly table for recorded listed fares and departure choice, then compare the actual ships, routes, cabin quotes and travel dates. Weather guidance uses regional reference conditions and does not explain why a fare changes.

When not to go on a cruise to the Bahamas?

August through October overlaps the highest Atlantic hurricane-risk period. Consider whether your plans can accommodate an itinerary change. Use the monthly table for recorded listed fares and departure choice, then compare the actual ships, routes, cabin quotes and travel dates. Weather guidance uses regional reference conditions and does not explain why a fare changes.

What is the cheapest month to cruise to the Bahamas?

Among well-served months in this comparison, November has the lowest median listed fare at $101 per person per night and July the highest at $148. Adjacent months with limited choice are shown separately and may have lower fares. These are different future departures, not a price history for the same cruise.

What month are cruise ships least crowded?

Sailing listings measure available choice, not passenger occupancy or crowds. This dataset cannot identify the least crowded month aboard ships.

How much does a 7-night Bahamas cruise cost per person?

Use the actual sailing and cabin quote for a trip budget. These monthly medians mix itinerary lengths and cabin availability, so multiplying them by seven does not establish the price of a seven-night cruise. Check occupancy, currency, inclusions, taxes and fees on the selected quote.

Is March a good time to cruise the Bahamas?

Weather-wise it's among the best months: 81°F, 2" of rain, and nine hours of sun a day, with no storm risk. Early March, or an adult-leaning line, keeps the weather and loses most of the crowd. Use the monthly table for recorded listed fares and departure choice, then compare the actual ships, routes, cabin quotes and travel dates. Weather guidance uses regional reference conditions and does not explain why a fare changes.

Is November a good time to cruise the Bahamas?

Better than its hurricane-season label suggests. The season ends November 30 and storm risk fades sharply through the month. Early November still means watching the tropics; by late month the dry season is effectively here. Use the monthly table for recorded listed fares and departure choice, then compare the actual ships, routes, cabin quotes and travel dates. Weather guidance uses regional reference conditions and does not explain why a fare changes.

What is the best month to cruise to the Bahamas from Florida?

Use the monthly table for recorded listed fares and departure choice, then compare the actual ships, routes, cabin quotes and travel dates. Weather guidance uses regional reference conditions and does not explain why a fare changes.
