About Zamami Island, Japan

Zamami Island is one of the Kerama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, part of the Kerama Islands National Park. The islands are renowned for some of Japan's clearest waters and finest coral reefs, with visibility exceeding 50 metres. From January to March, humpback whales are reliably sighted in the surrounding waters — the largest concentration in East Asia.
