About Waingapu, Sumba Island
Waingapu is the main town of East Sumba Regency on Sumba Island, Indonesia. The island is famous for its traditional ikat weaving — considered the finest in Indonesia — and the extraordinary clan megalithic tombs carved from single massive stone slabs. The Pasola festival (February–March) features ritual combat on horseback between rival villages.
