Villefranche-sur-Saône is a commune in the Rhône department in eastern France. It lies 1 mile west of the Saône River, and is around 25 kilometres north of Lyon. The inhabitants of the town are called Caladois.

Villefranche-sur-Saône is the capital of the Beaujolais region in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes département, on the Saône River. River cruise ships dock here on Rhône/Saône itineraries, offering excellent access to Beaujolais nouveau wine production villages, the Côte de Brouilly vineyards, and the historic Pierres Dorées (golden stone villages) of the region.
