Vilagarcía de Arousa (Galician: Vilagarcía) is a port town in the Rías Baixas of Galicia, with a working mussel and shellfish industry. It is the gateway to the O Grove peninsula and the Arousa estuary, famous for mussel cultivation on bateas (floating rafts). Santiago de Compostela is about 50 km away.
