Vidin is a port town on the southern bank of the Danube in north-western Bulgaria. It is close to the borders with Romania and Serbia, and is also the administrative centre of Vidin Province, as well as of the Metropolitan of Vidin.

Vidin is a Danube port city in northwestern Bulgaria, dominated by the magnificent Baba Vida medieval fortress — the best-preserved medieval castle in Bulgaria. The town also features unique 18th-century residential complexes built by local Ottoman officials and the Jewish synagogue. River cruise ships stop here on Danube itineraries.
