Taolagnaro cruise port guide
At Azamara® we believe the most memorable destinations are found off the beaten path—and with only dirt roads connecting it to the rest of the country, Tolagnaro certainly fits the bill. Jutting out into the Indian Ocean, surrounded by crescent-shaped beaches on three sides, this secluded port on the southeast coast is your gateway to otherworldly natural wonder when you cruise to Madagascar.
About Taolagnaro
Taolagnaro (also known as Fort-Dauphin) is a port city on the southeastern coast of Madagascar, capital of the Anosy Region. It was the first French settlement in Madagascar, established in 1643. The area is known for its dramatic landscapes, Andohahela National Park, the Berenty lemur reserve, and the Ehoala deepwater port built in 2006–2009.
Andohahela National Park, 40 km northwest of town, encompasses both humid rainforest and spiny desert ecosystems unique to southern Madagascar. Berenty Reserve, a private reserve on the Mandrare River, offers close lemur encounters. Libanona Beach provides a scenic coastal setting near the historic town center.
