Tadoussac cruise port guide
Tadoussac is a village in Quebec, Canada, at the confluence of the Saguenay and Saint Lawrence rivers. The indigenous Innu called the place Totouskak meaning "bosom", probably in reference to the two round and sandy hills located on the west side of the village.
About Tadoussac
Tadoussac is a historic village at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers in Quebec, often called the oldest French settlement in the Western Hemisphere. It is famous for world-class whale watching in the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park and for its dramatic fjord scenery. Cruise ships anchor in the bay and tender passengers ashore.
Whale watching is the signature activity, with beluga, fin, minke, humpback, and occasional blue whales visible from May through September. Croisière AML, Otis Excursions, and Tadoussac Autrement run boat tours. The CIMM interpretation centre educates visitors on marine mammals before or after excursions. The historic Chapelle de Tadoussac (c. 1747) and the replica of Pierre Chauvin's trading post recall the village's founding. Hiking trails include the Sentier du Fjord, Sentier des Dunes, and the Mont Adéla-Lessard trail.
