Svartisen Glacier cruise port guide
Svartisen is a collective term for two glaciers located in Nordland county in northern Norway. It is part of Saltfjellet-Svartisen National Park, located in the Saltfjell mountain range. The glaciers are located in the municipalities of Beiarn, Meløy, Rana, and Rødøy.
About Svartisen Glacier
Svartisen is Norway's second-largest glacier, a complex of ice sheets in Nordland county covering approximately 370 square km. Cruise ships navigate into the Holandsfjord to approach the glacier's spectacular blue calving front at sea level. Guided hikes on the accessible Engabreen arm of the glacier are offered by some expedition operators.
