Snares Islands cruise port guide

The Snares Islands/Tini Heke, also known as The Snares, is a small group of uninhabited islands lying about 200 km south of New Zealand's South Island and to the south-southwest of Stewart Island.

About Snares Islands

The Snares Islands (Te Taniwha) are a protected nature reserve in the New Zealand subantarctic, about 100 km south of Stewart Island. They host the world's densest seabird colony, with millions of sooty shearwaters and endemic Snares crested penguins. No landings are permitted; expedition cruise ships observe wildlife from zodiacs.
