Developed as Cambodia's sole deepwater port in 1964, Sihanoukville - the former Kampong Som - has become a jealously guarded secret of savvy travelers. This still pristine resort on the Gulf of Thailand boasts beautiful beaches and crystalline waters. Offshore islands offer excellent dive sites and some of the world's finest big game fishing. About Sihanoukville
Sihanoukville (Kampong Som) is Cambodia's main seaport and beach resort city on the Gulf of Thailand. Cruise ships use it as a gateway to southern Cambodia and nearby islands like Koh Rong. Despite rapid development, beaches at Otres and the nearby island archipelago remain beautiful.
