Rab cruise port guide
Rab is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. It’s known for the old town of the same name, encircled by ancient walls. The town’s 4 prominent church bell towers include the Romanesque tower at the Cathedral Svete Marije (St. Mary) and the tower at the ruins of Sveti Ivan Church (St. John the Evangelist). The monastery at the 16th-century Church of St. Justine (Crkva Svete Justine) is now a museum of sacral objects.
About Rab
Rab is a stunning island in the Kvarner archipelago of northern Croatia, home to one of the best-preserved medieval walled towns in the Adriatic. The island offers pristine beaches, ancient Romanesque bell towers, and the distinction of being the birthplace of naturism in Europe—historically linked to King Edward VIII's famous skinny-dip visit.
The walled old town of Rab features four iconic Romanesque bell towers—the highest standing 26 meters tall—as well as the main street Srednja ulica and medieval loggia. The Benedictine Monastery of St. Andrew and the Cathedral of the Assumption are highlights of ecclesiastical architecture. Rab stages its famous medieval crossbow tournament and festival (Rapska Fjera) in July, recreating a tradition dating to the 16th-century siege lifted by Venetian forces. Saint Marinus, founder of the world's oldest republic (San Marino), was born on Rab, commemorated with a twin-city agreement. Lopar Peninsula to the north offers the island's finest sandy beaches.
