About Puerto Chacabuco, Chile
Puerto Chacabuco is a small port town at the head of the Aisén Fjord in Chilean Patagonia, serving as the main gateway to Laguna San Rafael National Park. It is a regular port of call on itineraries that cruise the Patagonian channels and Chilean fjords, and serves as the terminus of the Navimag ferry service from Puerto Montt.
The signature excursion is a boat journey to the San Rafael Glacier within the national park, where calving ice towers rise from a turquoise lagoon. Inland tours reach Coyhaique, the regional capital some 80 km away, and its surrounding Patagonian steppe and lake district. The suspension bridge linking Puerto Chacabuco to Puerto Aisén—Chile's longest—spans the Aisén River.
