About Porto - Corse

Ajaccio is the capital and largest city of Corsica, France. Birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1769, it is a sun-kissed Mediterranean city on the west coast of the island with a natural harbour, cruise terminal, boardwalk, and excellent restaurants.

The Maison Bonaparte on Rue Saint-Charles is the birthplace museum and the primary Napoleon pilgrimage site; Place Foch features the main market and a statue of Napoleon as First Consul. The Musée Fesch holds one of the greatest collections of Italian Old Master paintings in France outside Paris. The coastal road to the Îles Sanguinaires (12 km) offers spectacular sunset views. Ajaccio AOC wines — Corsica's oldest appellation — are well worth seeking out in the city's wine bars.
