Piran cruise port guide
Piran is a resort city on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, known for its long pier and Venetian architecture. Tartini Square is flanked by the Gothic red Venetian House and the frescoed Tartini House. The latter is the birthplace of violinist Giuseppe Tartini. The 19th-century town hall has a stone lion, a symbol of the former Republic of Venice. St. George’s Cathedral, nearby, has 17th-century paintings and marble altars.
About Piran
Piran is a beautifully preserved medieval town perched on a narrow peninsula jutting into the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Slovenia. Once part of the Republic of Venice from 1283 to 1797, the town retains its Venetian character through labyrinthine cobblestone streets, compact stone houses, and Tartini Square with its campanile modeled on Venice's San Marco bell tower. Bilingual in Slovenian and Italian, Piran is widely considered one of Slovenia's most captivating tourist destinations and an outstanding example of Venetian urban heritage on the Adriatic.
Piran has a humid subtropical climate with warm summers and mild, rainy winters. Summers are sunny with temperatures regularly reaching 30°C; snow is extremely rare (roughly 3 days per year). Peak season runs May through September.
