About Pico Island, Azores

Pico Island is the second-largest island of the Azores, dominated by Mount Pico — Portugal's highest mountain (2,351 m) and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The island is known for its unique viticultural landscape of black lava-stone vineyards (also UNESCO World Heritage), whale watching, and proximity to Horta on neighboring Faial Island. Pico wine (Verdelho) was historically exported via Horta.
