Pangnirtung cruise port guide
About Pangnirtung
Pangnirtung (nicknamed 'Pang' or the 'Switzerland of the Arctic') is an Inuit hamlet of approximately 1,500 people on Baffin Island, Nunavut, located about 45 km south of the Arctic Circle. Situated on Pangnirtung Fjord where it merges with Cumberland Sound, the community is celebrated for its traditional Inuit arts — tapestries, prints, and carvings — and serves as the gateway to Auyuittuq National Park.
The Uqqurmiut Centre for Arts and Crafts is the cultural heart of the community, housing both the Pangnirtung Print Shop and the internationally acclaimed Pangnirtung Tapestry Studio — the weaving studio has operated since 1970. Day hikes on the Ikuvik Trail (to Mount Duval, 671 m) and Ukama Trail offer access to stunning Arctic scenery.
