About Ovalau

Ovalau is an island in the Lomaiviti Group of Fiji, home to Levuka — the first European colonial settlement in Fiji and the country's original capital before administration was transferred to Suva on Viti Levu in 1882. Levuka's historic townscape is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cruise ships typically anchor offshore with tender service to the historic town.
