About Narsaq
Narsaq is one of southern Greenland's larger towns, situated on the shores of Tunulliarfik Fjord with a population of around 1,242. Founded as a trading colony in 1830, it lies amid dramatic fjord scenery richly associated with Norse history — Erik the Red's Brattahlid and several bishop's seat ruins are in the surrounding area. The port is a call for the Arctic Umiaq Line coastal ship and expedition cruise vessels.
South Greenland has a subarctic climate moderated by the open ocean. Narsaq is accessible by sea from May to late autumn, with the brief summer (June–August) offering the most reliable conditions for cruise visits.
