Located on the Adriatic where the heel of Italy’s boot connects to the sole, Monopoli is part of the Puglia region, relatively undiscovered compared to the more heavily traveled regions of Tuscany and Campania. Puglia shares many things in common with Italy’s center-stage attractions, including delicious food, here known for its herbaceous and earthy qualities, and its architecture, ranging from elaborate Baroque to basic stone.
