Medoc cruise port guide
Médoc is an AOC for wine in the Bordeaux wine region of southwestern France, on the Left Bank of the Gironde estuary that covers the northern section of the viticultural strip along the Médoc peninsula. The zone is sometimes called Bas-Médoc, though this term is not permitted on any label.
About Medoc
Pauillac is the main port town of the Médoc wine peninsula in the Gironde estuary of southwest France, located midway between Bordeaux and the Pointe de Grave. It is a river cruise port on Bordeaux wine itineraries, with the Terminal Médoc cruise facility, and offers access to world-renowned châteaux including Mouton Rothschild, Latour, and Lafite.
The D2 Route des Châteaux passes through Pauillac linking some of the world's most prestigious wine estates. Château Mouton Rothschild has a remarkable art museum. Village de Bages (by Château Lynch-Bages) is a restored artisan village with a wine bistro. The marina commemorates the Marquis de Lafayette's 1777 departure to join the American Revolution. Wine tastings, château tours, and spring harvest festivals are the primary activities.
