Mauritius cruise port guide
Rodrigues Island is a small volcanic island in the Indian Ocean, east of Mauritius, of which it is a territory. On the north coast, the capital Port Mathurin features colonial buildings including the former governor’s residence. In the southwest, the François Leguat Giant Tortoise and Cave Reserve is home to fruit bats and giant tortoises, plus underground caves like the stalactite-filled Grande Caverne.
About Mauritius
Port Louis is the capital and main port city of Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar. The port is the largest in the Indian Ocean region and the country's financial centre, offering cruise passengers access to beautiful beaches, colonial heritage, and the UNESCO-listed Aapravasi Ghat.
The Caudan Waterfront, immediately adjacent to the port, provides shopping, dining, a casino, and harbour views. The UNESCO-listed Aapravasi Ghat documents the arrival of Indian indentured labourers who shaped the island's culture. The Central Market is a sensory explosion of spices and tropical produce. Day trips reach Le Morne Brabant (UNESCO), the excellent Blue Bay Marine Park for snorkeling, and plantation estates for rum and sugar heritage tours.
