Majuro is the capital and largest city of the Marshall Islands. It is also a large coral atoll of 64 islands in the Pacific Ocean. It forms a legislative district of the Ratak Chain of the Marshall Islands. The atoll has a land area of 9.7 square kilometres and encloses a lagoon of 295 square kilometres.

Majuro is the capital and largest city of the Marshall Islands, situated on a coral atoll of 64 islands in the Pacific Ocean. With a land area of only 9.7 sq km enclosing a lagoon of 295 sq km, Majuro has been inhabited for at least 2,000 years. During World War II, the lagoon became Naval Base Majuro, the largest and most active port in the world until the war moved westward. Today, the main population center is the Delap-Uliga-Djarrit (DUD) community on the eastern edge of the atoll. Majuro is the primary port of entry for the Marshall Islands and is visited on South Pacific cruise
