About Mainz
Mainz is a historic city on the western bank of the Rhine river in Germany, at the confluence of the Rhine and Main rivers. Its port has a history reaching from Roman times through the Middle Ages to the present day. Excursion ships use modest floating jetty terminals in the old town area to serve Rhine tourist cruises. Mainz is the gateway to the romantic Rhine Gorge (Rhine between Mainz and Koblenz) — a UNESCO World Heritage stretch of castles, vineyards, and cliffs.
