About Larnaca

Larnaca is a coastal city on the southeast coast of Cyprus, built on the ruins of the ancient Phoenician city-state of Kition, dating to the 13th century BC. It is home to landmarks including the Church of Saint Lazarus, Hala Sultan Tekke, Larnaca Castle, and the palm-lined Finikoudes promenade, while its offshore waters host the Zenobia wreck, one of the world's premier dive sites. Larnaca operates the second largest port in Cyprus and is directly served by an international airport located approximately 6 km from the city centre.

The Church of Saint Lazarus and the Ottoman mosque of Hala Sultan Tekke form the city's religious core, while Larnaca Castle anchors the Skala waterfront quarter. The Larnaca District Archaeological Museum and Pierides Museum together span the full sweep of Cypriot civilisation. The Larnaca Salt Lake, adjacent to the Tekke, draws flamingo flocks each winter and is a striking natural landmark even in the dry summer months. Divers and diving-curious passengers consistently rate the Zenobia — accessible from PADI Advanced Open Water level — among the world's premier wreck experiences. The village of Lefkara, 30 km inland, is the classic cultural half-day: a UNESCO-recognised lace-making tradition and traditional silverware workshops in a hillside setting.
