Labadee, Haiti
About Labadee
Labadee is a 260-acre private resort on the northern coast of Haiti, situated on the Labadie peninsula within the arrondissement of Cap-Haïtien, leased exclusively by Royal Caribbean Group since 1986 and extended to 2050. The fully fenced, self-contained site serves as a dedicated call port for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises, offering private beaches, a signature zip line, an alpine coaster, and an authorized Haitian artisan market. As of September 2025, Royal Caribbean has suspended cruise calls indefinitely due to widespread violence and travel
Labadee's signature thrill is the Dragon's Breath zip line, billed as the largest zip-line over water; it departs from a hilltop high above the resort and deposits riders on the peninsula below, with a mandatory warm-up run on a shorter practice line (January 2020 fee: $99). The Dragon's Tail alpine coaster provides a second paid adrenaline option. Beach relaxation is the most popular low-key activity: several private strands offer complimentary padded loungers and lifeguard supervision, with snorkeling available around rock ledges on the protected shoreline — though the resort mandates buoyancy vests, limiting free-diving. Passengers seeking active water pursuits can rent jetskis, wave-runners, and kayaks, or join cruise-line-operated snorkeling, kayaking, and sightseeing excursions. Families gravitate toward the fee-based waterpark with floating waterslides. A large open-air market offers Haitian arts, crafts, souvenirs, and local rum from authorized vendors. Colonial-era ruins dating to Labadee's past as a small port are scattered across the peninsula for those who seek them out.
