Isle of Pines, New Caledonia cruise port guide
About Isle of Pines, New Caledonia
The Isle of Pines is a small island within the New Caledonian archipelago, a French overseas territory in the southwest Pacific Ocean situated approximately 220 km southwest of Vanuatu and 1,210 km east of Australia. New Caledonia is celebrated for its beaches, world-class snorkelling and diving, and French-influenced cuisine, set against a backdrop of Melanesian Kanak culture.
New Caledonia has a semi-tropical climate moderated by southeast trade winds. January and February are hot and humid, and the territory is subject to tropical cyclones most frequently from November through March. The austral winter months of April through August are considerably more comfortable, with daytime temperatures around 22°C, making this period the preferred season for cruise calls to the region.
