About Hong Ngu, Vietnam
Da Nang is Vietnam's fourth largest municipality by population, situated on the central South China Sea coast midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The city serves as the primary gateway to the cultural corridor spanning Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An, offering cruise passengers access to My Khe Beach and day excursions to nearby UNESCO-listed Hoi An (45 minutes by shuttle) and the Cham ruins of My Son.
Son Tra Peninsula, a protected nature reserve north of the city, shelters 60% of Vietnam's critically endangered large red-shanked douc monkeys and offers coastal viewpoints. My Khe Beach extends 40 km south toward Hoi An. Day excursions reach Hoi An in 45 minutes by shuttle (130,000 dong) or Hue in three hours by bus. The Cham archaeological complex at My Son, about 50 km away, dates back some 3,000 years and served as the center of the Hindu Champa Dynasty. The Dien Hai Citadel in the city center dates to 1813 and was rebuilt in brick by 1819.
