Guadeloupe cruise port guide
If you are allowed to enter the Caribbean without passport control, then you are probably in Guadeloupe: The beautiful Antilles island is a French overseas territory and therefore part of the EU. You can pay here very conveniently with the euro. But that's where the similarities stop, because the island and its capital Pointe-à-Pitre stand for pure Caribbean joie de vivre and the colorful nature of the tropics. Go on a voyage of discovery on your cruise.
About Guadeloupe
Guadeloupe is a French overseas department in the Caribbean consisting of six inhabited islands, known as the Butterfly Island for its shape, featuring a sulphuric volcano, lush rainforest, beaches, and rum distilleries.
Basse-Terre is volcanic and mountainous, home to La Grande Soufrière volcano (1,467m, the highest point in the Lesser Antilles) and spectacular waterfalls in Guadeloupe National Park. Carbet Falls (Chutes du Carbet) in the rainforest include some accessible within 5-10 minutes of parking. Grande-Terre is flat with limestone terrain and popular beaches. Rum distilleries offer tours; rhum agricole production is integral to the local economy. The Morel archaeological site in Le Moule is an open park with pre-Columbian artifacts dating 400 BC to 1400 AD.
