Gozo cruise port guide
Legend says that Ulysses tarried with the goddess Calypso on Gozo, hence it's original name of Calypso's Isle. And no wonder he didn't want to leave - her cave overlooks an enchanted lagoon of gin-clear water surrounded by tall cliffs called the Inland Sea. Look out to the blue Mediterranean through the Azure Window, a soaring arch of rock spanning sky and sea, carved by eons of wind and water.
About Gozo
Gozo is the second-largest island in the Maltese archipelago, known for its scenic hills, historic megalithic temples, diving sites, and rural character.
The Ġgantija Temples in Xagħra are the island's premier archaeological site — massive Neolithic temples comprising megaliths over 5 meters high and weighing more than 50 tonnes. The Azure Window natural limestone arch in Dwejra collapsed in 2017, but the Blue Hole diving site and the Inland Sea remain spectacular. Ramla Bay offers reddish sand beach and claims to be the site of Calypso's Cave from Homer's Odyssey. The citadel in Victoria (Rabat) contains historic bastions, a gunpowder magazine, and grain silos from the Knights period. Ta' Pinu Basilica is a major pilgrimage site.
