Gaigirgordub, called El Porvenir until July 1, 2016, is the capital of the Panamanian comarca of Guna Yala. The settlement is located on a small island and contains a landing strip, a museum, a hotel, government offices, and an artisans' cooperative. There is also a small beach.
About El Porvenir
El Porvenir is the administrative center of the Guna Yala comarca (San Blas Islands) in Panama, a group of nearly 400 coral islands and cays inhabited by the indigenous Guna people. It is the main cruise entry point for San Blas, offering mola textile art, white-sand beaches, snorkeling, and authentic encounters with one of the Americas' most culturally intact indigenous communities.
