Cho Gao, Tien Giang, Vietnam cruise port guide

About Cho Gao, Tien Giang, Vietnam

Chợ Gạo is a district in Tiền Giang province (now Đồng Tháp province), situated in the Mekong Delta region of Southern Vietnam, directly to the west and north of the former city of Mỹ Tho. The area lies at the heart of Vietnam's most productive agricultural zone — the "rice basket of Vietnam" — and offers cruise visitors access to the region's iconic river culture, including floating markets, island excursions, and Buddhist temples along the Tiền (Mekong) River.

The immediate region offers a concentrated range of cultural and natural attractions. Vĩnh Tràng Temple and the Cao Dai Temple are the leading religious sites, while the Dong Tam Snake Farm provides an unusual wildlife encounter. Floating markets — where commerce is conducted entirely by boat — are a signature experience, along with the Ben Tam Ngua and Mỹ Thuận markets. The four islands of the Tiền River (Dragon, Tortoise, Phoenix, and Unicorn) are standard inclusions on Mekong Delta itineraries, offering orchid gardens, honey-bee farms, and traditional music performances. Boat rides on the Mỹ Tho River are among the most popular activities for visitors to the sub-region.
