Cascais cruise port guide
About Cascais
Cascais is an affluent seaside town and municipality on Portugal's Estoril Coast, 30 km west of Lisbon, where the Tagus estuary meets the Atlantic Ocean. Since the 1870s it has been a popular resort after the Portuguese royal family made it their summer residence. The municipality of 214,158 inhabitants is one of the wealthiest in Portugal, known for its marina, beaches, and proximity to Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point of continental Europe.
The must-see Boca do Inferno sea cave is a short walk or cycle along the coastal path west of town. The 10 km cycle track to Guincho beach passes along the Atlantic shoreline and is one of the region's finest rides. Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, lies 18 km away. Golf courses designed by world-class architects are concentrated in the area, including Quinta da Marinha and Penha Longa. The neighbouring resort of Estoril has its famous casino and motor racing circuit.
