About Bonne Bay, Newfoundland

Woody Point is a historic waterfront town of 244 residents nestled in the heart of Gros Morne National Park on the shores of Bonne Bay, western Newfoundland. Its downtown is a Registered Heritage District featuring four Registered Heritage Structures and a scenic waterfront. The community hosts the annual Writers at Woody Point literary festival and Gros Morne Summer Music at the restored Lord Nelson Orange Lodge Heritage Theatre.

Gros Morne National Park surrounds the town entirely, offering access to the Tablelands — the park's distinctive ochre-coloured peridotite plateau — as well as fjord-like Bonne Bay itself. The Registered Heritage District waterfront preserves a rare concentration of early-20th-century vernacular architecture; the 1919 lighthouse and a surviving 1890s residence are among the pre-fire exceptions. The Woody Point Heritage Theatre (Lord Nelson Loyal Orange Lodge, built 1908, restored 1998) is the venue for both the Writers at Woody Point festival and Gros Morne Summer Music. A lookout trail above the town provides panoramic views of Bonne Bay and the surrounding park landscape.
