Antsiranana, formerly known as Diego Suarez, is a city at the far northern tip of Madagascar and capital of the Diana Region. It is situated on Antsiranana Bay, one of the largest deep-water harbors in the Indian Ocean. The city has a cruise port with periodic visits, particularly from AIDA and Norwegian ships.
The Montagne des Français hiking trail offers 360° panoramic views of Antsiranana Bay and access to the Vallée des Perroquets wildlife area. Boat excursions to the Mer d'Émeraude reveal brilliant emerald waters among reef formations. Day trips reach Parc national de la Montagne d'Ambre (forests and waterfalls), Tsingy Rouge (red erosion formations), and the Réserve spéciale d'Ankarana (tsingy caves).
