Agropoli cruise port guide

Agropoli is a town and comune located in the Cilento area of the province of Salerno, Campania, Italy. It is situated at the start of the Cilentan Coast, on the Tyrrhenian Sea.

About Agropoli

Agropoli is a coastal town at the northern tip of the Cilento coast in the province of Salerno, Campania. It has a large tourist harbour with ferry connections to Capri, Ischia, Salerno, and Naples, and an impressive Angevin-Aragonese castle crowning the historic promontory.

The Angevin-Aragonese Castle (on 6th-century Byzantine foundations) dominates the promontory; it has a triangular plan with three circular towers and a moat. The medieval old town is well preserved with defensive walls and the 7th-century Byzantine entrance gate intact. Paestum (approximately 10 km north) contains three of the finest surviving Greek temples in the world, including the Temple of Neptune (c. 460 BC) — an essential half-day shore excursion. The Cilento coast beaches and the Trentova Bay are the summer swimming draws.
