Day 1 Aug 2, 2027 Hamburg, Germany Departs 20:00 Located between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, Hamburg will fascinate you from the moment you first set eyes on its elegant and austere buildings looking onto the port, one of the largest in Europe. When you reach this destination on an MSC Cruise of Northern Europe, you can get a taste of its glorious history. Hamburg is a cosmopolitan, wealthy and fashionable city, with an aggressive economy, that still prides itself of the title “free Hanseatic city”. It has, in fact, never cut its umbilical cord with maritime trade that has its heart in the port where your cruise liner will be waiting for you. Many tourist come here to visit the Reeperbahn, the red light district, but if you want to take in the atmosphere of the city, you shouldn’t miss an excursion to Speicherstadt (Warehouse Town), where the cobbled streets, gables and turrets combine to make the area on the other side of Zollkanal (Tax Canal) a world apart from the city opposite. Another city icon, St Michaelis, at the western edge of the city centre by Ludwig-Erhard-Strasse, is Hamburg’s iconic church and no wonder. More than any other building, the “Michael” mirrors the city’s irrepressible spirit. Burned down after a lightning strike in1750, it was rebuilt in Baroque style under Ernst Georg Sonnin but it again accidently caught fire in1906. In 1945, the Allies obliterated the roof and decor of church number three. Reconstructed again to Sonnin’s plans, it is now the finest Baroque church in North Germany. Day 3 Aug 4, 2027 Maloy 07:00 – 15:00 8.0 hrs ashore Situated on the southeastern coast of the island of Vågsøy, Måløy is a fetching coastal village graced by silvery beaches, lighthouses and a long history in fishing. A major port for exporting Norway’s prized seafood, Måløy is an ideal place to sample the local cod and chips, fish soup, crab-stuffed sandwiches and other fruits of the sea. History buffs will enjoy the Måløy Raid Center, which focuses on an allied full-scale operation that went on to become an important and strategic victory for the Allies during World War II. Also of note is the 10-foot-tall Kannesteinen rock, which has been carved by the sea over thousands of years and now resembles the tail of a whale.

Day 4 Aug 5, 2027 Molde, Norway 07:00 – 19:00 12.0 hrs ashore Picturesque Molde, dating back to 1742, is situated on the northern bank of Molde's fjord, sheltered from the Norwegian Sea. Molde enjoys, as a beautiful backdrop, the mighty range of the snow-capped Romsdal Mountains. These peaks provide for an unusually temperate climate, in fact mild enough to have earned Molde the title of “City of Roses.” This climate, warmed by the distant Gulf Stream, also accounts for Molde's popularity as a tourist destination for the last 100 years. Apart from this gorgeous setting, Molde offers attractive parks and gardens. This city suffered from severe bombing raids during World War II and when reconstruction took place, city planners left more than adequate open space. Gardens sprang up everywhere, including on the rooftops of new government buildings! There's enough jazz in Molde to brighten even the darkest winter nights. This music is highlighted during the annual Molde Jazz Festival when musicians come from far and wide to jam. Nearby points of interest include such destinations as the Romsdal Museum with its notable collection of old timbered dwellings. A superb view over the area can be had from 1,300-foot-high Varden Hill. On a clear day, from this vantage point, you can see some 87 mountain peaks--or so claim the local townspeople. In town, favorite attractions include the 1960s Town Hall and the Molde Cathedral which was constructed in the 1950s. Some famous former citizens of Molde include the Norwegian dramatist, Henrik Ibsen. He was considered probably the country's most influential figure in modern theater. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsone was also a citizen of Molde. Though most famous in Scandinavia, this Norwegian writer is revered around the world as the seminal figure of 19th-century Norwegian literature. Day 5 Aug 6, 2027 Hellesylt 07:00 – 19:00 12.0 hrs ashore Landing with your MSC cruise of Northern Europe to Hellesylt, the cosy little town on the shores of the Geiranger fjord, will make it appear like a natural extension of the mountains behind. There are plenty of opportunities to admire the fjord and the town from above during your vacation in Norway. Along the steep Eagle Route (Ørnevegen) you find two perfect observation posts – Dalsnibba, 1500 metres above, and Flydalsjuvet with terraces that open onto the ice valley – surrounded by impressive peaks. If you continue along the Ørnesvingen, as well as Geiranger and the fjord, you will come to the Seven Sisters Waterfalls (De syv søstrene) that offers a magnificent spectacle. If you want to know more about what it means to live on the shores of a Norwegian fjord, visit the Geiranger centre, about a kilometre from the town centre. If you enjoy hikes on foot but you don’t want to exhaust yourself, take the fjord’s southern coast route to Homlong, where you will find a small bar selling excellent, freshly made snacks. Day 7 Aug 8, 2027 Alesund 07:00 – 19:00 12.0 hrs ashore Visiting Ålesund on an MSC cruise of Northern Europe means plunging into a fairytale atmosphere. Vikøyri is the main settlement and central hub of Vik. Here is where you will find the most interesting attractions, including two medieval churches with vast histories.
