Open-minded and tolerant, Amsterdam is a place for history buffs and hedonists alike, and its diverse neighbourhoods have something for everyone - whether it’s the beachside relaxation of Bloemendaal, nocturnal thuds of Buiksloterham, or characterful charm of Jordaan. 160 serene canals serve as the arteries of this city, imbuing it with its unique essence. Cruise along concentric waterways, past cherry red and oak-wood cladded houseboats, as you learn of its Golden Age history. Culture is also deep in Amsterdam’s DNA, and the Van Gogh Museum – which pays tribute to the tortured genius of the Dutch post-impressionist artist - stands out among its leading museums and galleries. One of history’s greatest tragedies is also rendered in heart-breaking clarity at Anne Frank House. Visit the site where the precocious teenager hid from the Nazi regime for so long, and the room where she penned the most famous diary ever written. Day 3 Jul 25, 2027 Harlingen Arrives 19:00 Lying at the mouth of the Harinxma canal in the Frise province of the Netherlands, Harlingen has always had a very close relationship with the sea. Once a whale fishing centre and today a port specialised in shrimp fishing, its dynamism has transformed it into a modern city which also offers travellers museums and sites of interest. The local museum, the Hannemahuis, is housed in an 18th Century dwelling and presents a collection of regional furniture and objects retracing the history of the city. After devastating damage during World War II, Rotterdam has grown into a vibrant, forceful city dotted with first division cultural attractions. Your MSC cruise of Northern Europe will give you the opportunity to see that the immense land reclamation work hasn’t obliterated its earthy character though: its tough grittiness is part of its appeal, as are its boisterous bars and clubs. Amongst the most interesting attractions to enjoy during your vacation in Holland, is Rotterdam’s Kunsthal, the museum of contemporary art, and the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, which has an outstanding art collection including representative works from almost all the most important Dutch painters: both are in the city’s designated culture zone, the Museumpark. Other interesting sites to visit on an MSC excursion are the Oude Haven, the city’s oldest harbour, ravaged during World War II but sympathetically redeveloped, and Delfs haven, an antique harbour that managed to survive the bombs pretty much intact. Rotterdam also boasts a string of first-rate festivals, including the much-lauded North Sea Jazz Festival and the colourful Summer Carnival. The postwar period saw the rapid reconstruction of the docks and, when huge container ships and oil tankers made the existing port facilities obsolete, Rotterdammers promptly built an entirely new deep-sea port, the Europoort, jutting out into the North Sea some 25 km to the west of the old town. For the more active guests, rental bikes are available to explore the landscape individually. Come on an unforgettable trip with the VIVA ONE. Our first own new building, the VIVA ONE invites with 88 cabins up to 176 passengers on feel-good moments on board. On the diamond deck there are four luxurious suites, which with 24 m² size and a balcony (approx. 2 m²) invite you to enjoy the beautiful view. On the Diamond Deck, as well as on the Ruby Deck, there are 19 m² Junior Suites, which have a French balcony. The main part of the cabins is made up by 2-bed cabins with 16 m² size. These have French balconies on the Diamond and Ruby decks and non-opening windows on the Emerald deck. All cabins are perfectly equipped with flat-screen TV, included mini-bar, Nespresso® machine, Beauty products from RITUALS®, hairdryer, safe, air conditioning, shower and toilet. From a technical and sustainable perspective, the VIVA ONE impresses with some special features and innovations. A total of 68 solar cells, distributed on both sides of the sun deck, support the on-board power system. The energy generated is also used primarily for the ship's bow thruster and for high power usage. In general, a lot of emphasis was placed on low energy consumption for lighting, pumps, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and galley and laundry equipment during the design process. The water treatment system is also state-of-the-art. Guests can refill their reusable VIVA drinking bottles at any time at two water stations in the lobby and at the bar, while VIVA glass carafes are available in the restaurant. To reduce fuel consumption, the ship features an efficient hull form, powertrain and fuel-saving autopilot to simplify navigation.
