Galveston
With the second busiest port in America, Galveston has been coined the "Queen of the Gulf." Seafood lovers will covet the oyster and shrimp culinary specialties of this island with over 30 miles of sandy beaches. Keep your eyes on the water! Bottlenose dolphin sightings are quite common in Galveston Bay.
A strong sense of community is shared by the locals who take pride in their town and cultural festivities. Galveston is home to an impressively large collection of 19th-century buildings and the city is awash with restored homes from the Victorian era, in addition to nature parks and colorful oleanders.
Half Moon Cay
The Caribbean is full of tropical wonders and natural beauty. But there’s nothing like Half Moon Cay, our pristine private island paradise in the Bahamas. Cruise to the Bahamas with Holland America Line and discover the most stunning, highest-rated private-island experience in the region, Half Moon Cay. This island has won Porthole Cruise Magazine’s Best Private Island award 17 consecutive years, and was also named the best in Travel Weekly's Readers' Choice Awards. As soon as your toes touch that powdery white sand and your eyes settle on the perfect blue-crystal clear water, you’ll understand why this island is one of the most sought out destinations. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway or a family vacation, book a Bahamas cruise and explore Half Moon Cay's beautiful beaches, exciting cruise excursions, exclusive beach cabanas and more.
Amber Cove, Dominican Republic
Located on the Dominican Republic's north coast, the port of Amber Cove, near Puerto Plata, is a new phenomenon. Built in 2015, the area was fashioned as an homage to the country’s colonial architecture and features restaurants, bars and shops, as well as an activity center, a pool and cabanas. But it’s the neighboring region, known as the Amber Coast for its plethora of the semiprecious stone, that’s this port’s true draw. Along with golden-sand beaches and dramatic cliffs, there's the city of Puerto Plata, one of the Caribbean’s oldest, founded in the early 1500s. Another nearby option is Santiago de los Caballeros, known locally as simply Santiago, about an hour's drive from the port. The second-largest city in the Dominican Republic, it is home to excellent museums, historic buildings and cigar and rum makers.

Catching a great sunrise isn't just for early-risers. Carnival Sunrise, now sailing, has enough warm fun for everybody to bask in. And when we say 'everybody'... well, here's a ship that has so much vacation awesomeness to share with the world that it will have three homeports: Norfolk, Ft. Lauderdale and NYC, each featuring sailings with their own unique destinations.
So, everybody — here's a little of what you can expect from Carnival Sunrise. If you're ready for some amazing things to do let's start with the musical stage-show stylings of Playlist Productions. Also up on stage find laugh-out-loud performances at Punchliner Comedy Club. Kids get to have a blast with others their age at one of three youth spaces, while adults will find Piano Bar 88 a melodious place to grab a drink in the evening. And who doesn't love a good waterslide? Carnival WaterWorks is the ship's designated splash zone.
RedFrog Pub could be called Carnival Sunrise's center of good cheer and great beers! For delicious bites served with that same casual, can-do-fun attitude, look to Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse. Or for something a little more refined, swing by Bonsai Sushi. Fancying things up a little are the Italian classics of Cucina del Capitano, while another notch up you'll find Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse.
We think you see by now that, from sun-up to sunset and well into the night, you'll find a day aboard Carnival Sunrise full of amazing ways to have fun. (Plus, don't forget the amazing destinations to see!) Best of all, at the end of the day... remember that your vacation on Carnival Sunrise features another great one tomorrow.
